How to install it

  1. Download the file for your computer. Each link is always the newest version.
  2. Open it. FoxQuill is not signed yet, so Windows and the Mac ask you to allow it the first time. Below are the clicks on Windows and on a Mac.
  3. Press Start writing. The 14-day free trial begins, with no card.

All downloads

If you are not sure which Mac you have, choose About This Mac from the Apple menu. A Chip line means Apple silicon, and a Processor line that names Intel means Intel. On Linux, see Installing on Linux. Older versions are on the releases page.

On Windows

Windows may say Windows protected your PC. It shows this for programs that are not code-signed yet. Signing is planned.

  1. Click More info.
  2. Click Run anyway.

Installing on Windows

On a Mac

Drag FoxQuill into Applications and open it. The Mac stops it once, because FoxQuill is not signed by Apple yet.

  1. Click Done on the message.
  2. Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security.
  3. Click Open Anyway next to FoxQuill.
  4. Type your password and click Open Anyway again.

On macOS 13 and 14, Control-click FoxQuill in Applications and choose Open instead. Installing on a Mac

Where your writing lives

FoxQuill keeps it in your user folder, apart from the program, so uninstalling the app never removes it.
