Themes
FoxQuill ships with four themes. Change the theme in Settings, or with the palette button in the top bar.

One theme for the app#
The theme belongs to the app, not to a book. Every book and the book list wear the same one, so changing it in one place changes it everywhere. The palette button in the top bar and Settings > Look > Theme do the same thing.
A book can keep a theme of its own. Open that book’s Settings > Look and turn on Use a different theme for this book. Nothing changes at once: the book starts on the theme it already wears, and the four tiles then set the theme of this book alone. While the switch is on, the palette button in the top bar also changes only this book. The other books and the book list keep the app’s theme. Turn the switch off and the book follows the app again.
When FoxQuill was updated to this, the app took the theme of the book you worked in last, and any book that looked different kept its own theme, so no book changed.
Background art#
Settings > Look > Theme has a Background art row under the four themes. Background art is always set per book, whichever theme the book wears. Five pictures ship with FoxQuill; click one to use it. The last tile takes a picture of your own. FoxQuill blurs whichever you pick, softens it with the theme’s own background color, and puts it behind every panel. It does this on every theme, Paper and Ink included. Leave it on None for a flat page in the theme’s own color.
The art is decoration only. It never sits over text, and it does not change how anything reads.
Font, page, and paragraphs#
Settings > Writing > Font, page, and paragraphs sets the typeface for what you write, how wide the text runs, how paragraphs are set, and the drop cap. Four fonts: EB Garamond, Source Serif, Literata, and Inter. Three widths: narrow, wide, and full. Paragraphs are indented or spaced, and a drop cap is off, classic, or raised. All four are per book.
